As its name suggests, 1.5 is a rapid on the famous Numbers of the Arkansas. It is a big, surging, stomping wave when it comes into its prime, and its not to be taken lightly. The 8 foot face will be hard to get on for most surfers, and you’ll get some significant downtime on the back end. Though SUPers may be able to SUP the Numbers at lower flows, be sure you know what you’re getting yourself into if you’re planning on running this in the high 2,000s or above.
Arkansas River near Nathrop gives the best flow information; keep an eye out for flows around 3,000 cfs, which usually only come around near the peak of runoff.
